As was noted before by our contributing military expert General Sokolowski Retd., the IDF is sustaining increasing losses in the ranks of special forces and its officer corps as Hamas or maybe armed Palestinians at large continue resistance in Gaza inflicting casualties on poorly trained and unmotivated IDF conscripts in street fighting.
The IDF has been sustaining increasing and disproportionately high losses in its special forces and in officer corps because the IDF cannot trust conscript units to achieve set objectives in urban Gaza environment and has to increasingly rely on said special forces and officers, sometimes high-ranking officers, operating in the positions of lowly foot soldiers, to try to do the job which however leads to spiraling and hard-to-compensate losses in their ranks due to an extremely low rate of re-spawn and limited numbers in the first place.
Certainly, our top military expert, General Sokolowski (Retd), notes, the list of IDF casualties already reads like Who’s Who (or was...) in the Israeli special services and the officer corps which doesn’t bode well for the campaign in the long run or for future campaigns.
Only yesterday the IDF lost a bunch of senior officers including brigade commanders and deputy commanders with the ranks of colonel and lieutenant colonel and a number of majors and sergeant majors as well as two special forces specialising in extraction of the wounded, and just in one engagement.
Whatever spin you may want to put on it doesn’t change the basic truth.
****
IDF are today’s baby killers.
